Sañjaya said: Seeing that army lingering in hesitation—standing without boldness or initiative—Arjuna covered it with volleys of arrows that scorched the very life-breath. In the moral pressure of battle, the verse highlights how delay and loss of resolve become fatal, while decisive action by a capable warrior turns hesitation into immediate peril.

In a dharmic battle, hesitation and lack of resolve (apragalbhatā) invite defeat; disciplined, timely action by one who knows his duty can decisively change the field. The verse implicitly warns that moral and strategic wavering becomes a vulnerability.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna notices the opposing army standing sluggishly and without initiative; Arjuna then showers it with deadly arrows, effectively overwhelming and pressuring the troops.
