Sātyaki’s Assurance and the Protection of Dharmarāja (सात्यकिवचनम्—धर्मराजरक्षणविचारः)

na hi yatra mahābāhur vāsudevo vyavasthitaḥ | kiñcid vyāpadyate tatra yatrāham api ca dhruvam ||

Sañjaya said: “Where the mighty-armed Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa) stands present, and where I too am certainly present, there no undertaking can truly go awry.” In the midst of war’s uncertainty, the verse asserts moral and practical confidence grounded in Kṛṣṇa’s guiding presence and the assurance of reliable witness and counsel.

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches steadfast confidence: when Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva), the embodiment of wise guidance and dharmic resolve, is present, outcomes need not be feared as collapsing into chaos. It frames success not merely as force, but as alignment with right counsel and divine steadiness.

Sañjaya, the seer-narrator reporting the battlefield events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, expresses certainty that in the situation where Kṛṣṇa is stationed—and where Sañjaya’s own reliable presence/reporting is assured—no crucial plan or action will be spoiled. It is a reassurance amid the volatility of the Drona Parva war episodes.
