Shloka 2

य इदं पठते पर्व शृणुयाद्‌ वापि नित्यश: । स मुच्यते महापापै: कृतैघोरिश्व॒ कर्मभि:

ya idaṁ paṭhate parva śṛṇuyād vāpi nityaśaḥ | sa mucyate mahāpāpaiḥ kṛtair ghoraiś ca karmabhiḥ ||

Sañjaya said: Whoever regularly recites this section of the epic, or even listens to it day after day, is released from great sins—even those arising from dreadful deeds. The verse frames attentive hearing and faithful recitation as ethically purifying acts, affirming the Mahābhārata’s role as a moral and spiritual guide amid the violence of war.
