Educational Q&A

The verse affirms a primordial hierarchy validated by Vedic authorities (Brāhmaṇas and sages) and links sacred speech (the mouth) with the manifestation of Agni, highlighting the ethical-religious idea that ritual order and truth-bearing speech sustain cosmic order.

Vyāsa is describing a revered figure as the most ancient and foremost among divine beings, emphasizing his exalted status by stating that Agni originated from his mouth—an image that elevates him through association with Vedic fire and sacrificial power.
