आचार्यविदहितं व्यूहं भित्त्वा देवै: सुदुर्भिदम् । तव व्यायच्छमानस्य द्रोणस्यथ च महात्मन:
Transliteration
ācārya-vidhitaṃ vyūhaṃ bhittvā devaiḥ sudurbhidam | tava vyāyacchamānasya droṇasyātha ca mahātmanaḥ ||
Translation
Sañjaya said: Having broken through the battle-formation devised by the preceptor—one that even the gods would find exceedingly hard to pierce—(they advanced) while your noble Droṇa strove to hold them back. The verse underscores the moral tension of war: even a righteous, disciplined commander can be overwhelmed when collective resolve and strategic daring meet steadfast resistance.
