Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how greed for power and wealth, intensified by delusion, leads to ethical collapse and strategic ruin; misguided counsel from those considered “friends” can accelerate one’s downfall, especially when one’s own motives are impure.

Duryodhana laments that his plan has been thwarted and blames the foolish actions/advice of those he counts as intimate allies; he also characterizes himself as greedy and sinful, intent on seizing wealth/kingdom, underscoring the moral and tactical unraveling within the Kaurava camp.
