अभ्यद्रवत् सुसंक्रुद्धो रणे शैनेयमच्युतम् । महाराज! अत्यन्त क्रोधमें भरे हुए कर्णने भी उस युद्धस्थलमें अपनी मर्यादासे च्युत न होनेवाले सात्यकिपर बाणोंकी वर्षा करते हुए धावा किया || ५० $ ।। नैव दैवं न गान्धर्व नासुरं न च राक्षसम्

Sanjaya said: In the thick of battle, Karna—burning with fierce anger—charged straight at Satyaki, the son of Shini, who stood firm in his own discipline and did not fall away from his warrior’s code. Showering him with arrows, Karna pressed the attack. (The verse then begins a sweeping claim: “Neither divine, nor Gandharva, nor Asura, nor Rakshasa…,” implying that no superhuman force would be able to check what follows.)
