sañjaya uvāca | śṛṇu rājann ihotpattiṃ śaineyasya yathā purā | yathā ca bhūriśravaso yatra te saṃśayo nṛpa ||
Sañjaya said: O King, listen here to the account of the birth and origin of Śaineya (Sātyaki) as it was in former times, and likewise of Bhūriśravas—so that, O ruler, the doubt that troubles you on this matter may be resolved.
संजय उवाच
When doubt arises, it should be met with careful inquiry grounded in tradition and reliable narration; understanding a person’s lineage and background is presented as a way to clarify contested actions and judgments in the war narrative.
Dhṛtarāṣṭra has a doubt about a matter involving Sātyaki (Śaineya) and Bhūriśravas. Sañjaya introduces a retrospective account of their origins, signaling a shift to background narration meant to resolve the king’s uncertainty.
