Śaineya–Bhūriśravas: Genealogy, Svayaṃvara Contest, and the Maheśvara Boon

समुत्पतन्ति वल्मीकाद्‌ यथा क्ुद्धा महोरगा: । तथा द्रोणरथाद्‌ राजन्नापतन्ति तनुच्छिद:

samutpatanti valmīkād yathā kruddhā mahoragāḥ | tathā droṇarathād rājann āpatanti tanucchidaḥ ||

Sañjaya said: “O King, just as great serpents, enraged, spring up from an anthill, so do the body-piercing missiles rush forth from Droṇa’s chariot—leaping out to strike down warriors. The image conveys not only the ferocity of battle but also the dread that arises when martial power, once unleashed, becomes difficult to restrain.”
