Śaineya’s Breakthrough and Reunion with Arjuna (शैनेयस्य समागमः)
तत्राद्भुतं परं चक्रे कृतवर्मा महारथ: । यदेक: समरे पार्थान् वारयामास सानुगान्,वहाँ महारथी कृतवर्माने अत्यन्त अद्भुत पराक्रम प्रकट किया। उसने अकेले होनेपर भी सेवकोंसहित समस्त पाण्डवोंका समरभूमिमें सामना किया
tatrādbhutaṃ paraṃ cakre kṛtavarmā mahārathaḥ | yad ekaḥ samare pārthān vārayāmāsa sānugān ||
There, the great chariot-warrior Kṛtavarmā performed a supremely astonishing feat: though alone, he held back the Pāṇḍavas in battle, even as they advanced with their attendants and supporting troops. The verse highlights the awe inspired by individual martial prowess amid the larger ethical tension of a fratricidal war.
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores how extraordinary personal valor can shape events even within vast armies, while also reminding the reader that such prowess operates inside a morally fraught war where duty, loyalty, and the costs of violence remain in tension.
Sañjaya reports that Kṛtavarmā, though alone, checks the advance of the Pāṇḍavas and their supporting followers on the battlefield, performing a deed described as supremely astonishing.
