Sanjaya said: “He was accompanied by noble and well-bred people; contented and well-nourished, yet not arrogant. He was one who had duly received honor and courteous attentions, and he was both renowned and high-minded.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical ideal: true nobility is shown not merely by birth or public honor, but by inner restraint—being content and prosperous without becoming arrogant, and maintaining a high-minded character alongside fame.
Sanjaya is describing a person’s qualities in the midst of the Drona Parva war-reporting: he portrays someone attended by respectable people, honored appropriately, and marked by renown and noble resolve—an evaluative character sketch within the battlefield narration.
