Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 114 — Karṇa–Bhīmasena Missile Exchange, Disarmament, and Arjuna’s Intervention
तस्माद् भीम निवर्तस्व मम चेदिच्छसि प्रियम् । “शत्रुदमन वीर! इस समय और भविष्यमें भी राजाकी रक्षा करना ही श्रेयस्कर है। तुम मेरा बल जानते हो और मैं तुम्हारा। अतः भीमसेन! यदि तुम मेरा प्रिय करना चाहते हो तो लौट जाओ
tasmād bhīma nivartasva mama cedicchasi priyam |
Sañjaya said: “Therefore, O Bhīma, turn back—if you wish to do what is dear to me. In this moment, and looking to what lies ahead, the wiser course is to protect the king. You know my strength, and I know yours; so, Bhīmasena, if you would please me, withdraw.”
संजय उवाच
Even in the heat of battle, right action includes restraint and prioritizing the protection of the rightful leader; personal valor should be guided by prudence and duty.
Sañjaya addresses Bhīma directly, urging him to withdraw and focus on safeguarding the king, appealing both to mutual knowledge of strength and to Bhīma’s desire to do what is pleasing.
