Sanjaya said: Thus ends the one-hundred-and-first chapter in the Jayadratha-slaying section of the Droṇa Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata, describing the arrival of Duryodhana. This closing colophon marks a narrative turning point in the war: leadership, morale, and responsibility converge as Duryodhana’s appearance signals renewed strategic pressure amid the ethical weight of vengeance and duty on the battlefield.

As a colophon, the verse does not teach a doctrine directly; it highlights how epic narrative frames war through accountability and leadership. Duryodhana’s arrival functions as a reminder that decisions in conflict carry ethical consequences, shaping both strategy and the moral burden borne by rulers and warriors.
This is the formal closing line of the chapter: it states that the 101st chapter within the Jayadratha-slaying section of the Droṇa Parva has concluded, and that its topic was Duryodhana’s arrival.
