Educational Q&A

The line highlights a central kṣatriya ethical pressure: in war, one’s worth is judged publicly, and the fear of being branded ‘incapable’ can drive action. It points to the moral tension between inner hesitation and the social code of honor that demands steadfastness in battle.

Sañjaya reports a battlefield sentiment: the speaker anticipates that the assembled warriors will interpret his conduct as weakness or inability in combat, reflecting the intense scrutiny and honor-based judgments common in the war setting.
