Bhīṣma said: “O one of immeasurable prowess, the Brahmarṣis and the gods in this world, with minds gathered into single-pointed devotion, continually sing of You as the Supreme Self—praising You through those many names that correspond to Your diverse divine acts and manifestations.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches that the highest sages and even the gods recognize the addressed Lord as the Paramātman and praise Him through many names, each reflecting a particular divine deed or manifestation—implying that devotion and right understanding converge in acknowledging the One Supreme through His many epithets.
Bhīṣma is offering a hymn of praise, declaring that across the world the Brahmarṣis and the devas continually chant the Lord’s glory, using varied names aligned with His līlās (divine acts), thereby affirming His supreme status.
