Chapter 47: Krauñca-vyūha Deployment and Conch-Signals

Kaurava–Pāṇḍava Readiness

taṁ prayāntam abhiprekṣya kuntīputro dhanaṁjayaḥ | avatīrya rathāt tūrṇaṁ bhrātṛbhiḥ sahito 'nvayāt ||

Sañjaya said: Seeing him moving ahead toward the enemy host, Dhanañjaya (Arjuna), the son of Kuntī, quickly descended from his chariot and, accompanied by his brothers, followed after him. The scene underscores the pull of kinship and duty amid war: leaders respond at once when a revered elder advances into danger, and the moral weight of the moment compels immediate action.

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights prompt, duty-bound action in a morally charged battlefield context: when a respected figure advances toward danger, responsible leaders respond immediately, balancing reverence, kinship, and the demands of dharma.

Sañjaya reports that Arjuna, seeing someone proceed toward the enemy forces, quickly gets down from his chariot and follows, together with his brothers, indicating urgency and collective resolve at a critical moment.
