है भरतवंशी अर्जुन! मुझमें आदित्योंको अर्थात्‌ अदितिके द्वादश पुत्रोंकी, आठ वसुओंको, एकादश रुद्रोंको, दोनों अश्विनीकुमारोंको और उनचास मरुद्गणोंको देख तथा और भी बहुत-से पहले न देखे हुए आश्वर्यमय रूपोंको देख ।। इहैकस्थं जगत्‌ कृत्स्नं पश्याद्य सचराचरम्‌ | मम देहे गुडाकेश” यच्चान्यद्‌ द्रष्टमिच्छसि,हे अर्जुन! अब इस मेरे शरीरमें एक जगह स्थित चराचरसहित सम्पूर्ण जगत्‌को देख* तथा और भी जो कुछ देखना चाहता हो सो देख

paśya me pārtha rūpāṇi śataśo ’tha sahasraśaḥ | nānāvidhāni divyāni nānāvarṇākṛtīni ca || paśyādityān vasūn rudrān aśvinau marutas tathā | bahūny adṛṣṭapūrvāṇi paśyāścaryāṇi bhārata || ihaikasthaṃ jagat kṛtsnaṃ paśyādya sacarācaram | mama dehe guḍākeśa yac cānyad draṣṭum icchasi ||

Krishna invites Arjuna to behold an overwhelming vision of the divine: countless forms, radiant and varied in color and shape. He tells him to see within this single body the Adityas, Vasus, Rudras, the twin Ashvins, and the hosts of Maruts—marvels never witnessed before. Then Krishna directs Arjuna to look here and now, in one place, upon the entire universe with all that moves and all that does not, and to see whatever else he still longs to know. Ethically, the moment shifts Arjuna from personal fear and moral paralysis toward a wider, cosmic perspective in which duty is understood against the backdrop of an all-encompassing divine order.

The verse teaches that the divine reality is not limited to a single form: all gods, beings, and the entire moving-and-unmoving cosmos are encompassed within Krishna. This expands Arjuna’s moral horizon—duty (dharma) is to be understood within a cosmic order rather than only through personal attachment and fear.

On the battlefield, Krishna begins granting Arjuna the vision of the universal form (viśvarūpa). He invites Arjuna to see innumerable divine manifestations—Adityas, Vasus, Rudras, Ashvins, Maruts—and then to behold the whole universe gathered in one place within Krishna’s body.
