सम्बन्ध-- परम श्रद्धालु और परम प्रेमी अर्जुनके इस प्रकार प्रार्थना करनेपर तीन शलोकोंमें भगवान्‌ अपने विश्वरूपका वर्णन करते हुए उसे देखनेके लिये अर्जुनको आज्ञा देते है-- श्रीभगवानुवाच पश्य मे पार्थ रूपाणि शतशो5थ सहस्त्रश: । नानाविधानिः दिव्यानिः नानावर्णाकृतीनि चः,श्रीभगवान्‌ बोले--हे पार्थ! अब तू मेरे सैकड़ों-हजारों नाना प्रकारके और नाना वर्ण तथा नाना आकृति-वाले अलौकिक रूपोंको देख

śrībhagavān uvāca | paśya me pārtha rūpāṇi śataśo 'tha sahasraśaḥ | nānāvidhāni divyāni nānāvarṇākṛtīni ca ||

The Blessed Lord said: “Behold, O Pārtha, My forms—by the hundreds and by the thousands—manifold, divine, and of many colors and many shapes.” In response to Arjuna’s reverent longing to truly know what he worships, Kṛṣṇa turns devotion into direct vision, preparing Arjuna to face the moral weight of war with a widened, God-centered understanding of reality.

Kṛṣṇa teaches that the divine cannot be confined to a single limited image: the Lord’s reality is vast, manifold, and transcendent. True devotion matures into a readiness to perceive the many-sided divine presence that underlies and governs the moral order (dharma), even amid the terror and complexity of war.

After Arjuna requests to see Kṛṣṇa’s supreme, cosmic majesty, Kṛṣṇa begins granting that revelation. This verse is the opening command: Arjuna is instructed to behold innumerable divine forms of varied colors and shapes, setting the stage for the full vision of the Viśvarūpa.
