उत्पातवर्णनम् (Utpāta-varṇanam) — Catalogue of Portents
व्याय उवाच वैचित्रवीर्य नृपते यत् ते मनसि वर्तते । अभिधत्स्व यथाकामं छेत्तास्मि तव संशयम्,व्यासजी बोले--विचित्रवीर्यकुमार! नरेश्वर! तुम्हारे मनमें जो संदेह है, उसे अपनी इच्छाके अनुसार प्रकट करो। मैं तुम्हारे संशयका निवारण करूँगा
vyāsa uvāca vaicitravīrya nṛpate yat te manasi vartate | abhidhatsva yathākāmaṁ chettāsmi tava saṁśayam ||
Vyāsa said: “O son of Vicitravīrya, O king—whatever doubt or thought is moving in your mind, speak it out as you wish. I shall cut through your uncertainty and remove your doubt.”
व्याय उवाच
A seeker should openly articulate inner doubts to a qualified guide; clarity arises through honest inquiry and authoritative counsel that removes confusion.
Vyāsa addresses a Kuru ruler descended from Vicitravīrya, inviting him to state whatever is troubling his mind and promising to resolve the doubt.
