इति सम शरतल्पस्थं भरतानां महत्तमम् | ऋषयस्त्वभ्यभाषन्त सहिता: सिद्धचारणै:,इस प्रकार सिद्धों और चारणोंसहित ऋषिगण भरतकुलके महापुरुष भीष्मको बाणशगय्यापर स्थित देख पूर्वोक्त बातें कहते थे
iti sma śarat-talpa-sthaṁ bharatānāṁ mahattamam | ṛṣayas tv abhyabhāṣanta sahitāḥ siddha-cāraṇaiḥ ||
Sañjaya said: “Thus, seeing Bhīṣma—the greatest of the Bharatas—lying upon his bed of arrows, the sages, accompanied by Siddhas and Cāraṇas, addressed him with the words just described.”
संजय उवाच
The verse frames Bhīṣma as an authoritative moral witness even amid extreme suffering: dharma-instruction is presented as arising not from comfort but from steadfastness, reputation, and lived commitment to duty.
Sañjaya reports that sages—along with celestial Siddhas and Cāraṇas—approach Bhīṣma as he lies on the arrow-bed and speak to him, continuing the discourse previously mentioned.
