भीष्मो5पि समरे जित्वा पाण्डवान् सहसूंजयान् । पूज्यमानस्तव सुतैर्वन्द्यमानश्च भारत
Transliteration
bhīṣmo 'pi samare jitvā pāṇḍavān sahasūñjayān | pūjyamānas tava sutair vandyamānaś ca bhārata ||
Translation
Sañjaya said: “Even Bhīṣma, having conquered the Pāṇḍavas in battle along with the Sṛñjayas, was being honored by your sons and repeatedly saluted, O Bhārata.” The line underscores how martial success on the battlefield immediately translates into public acclaim and deference within the Kuru camp, even as the larger ethical tension of kin-slaying war continues to loom over the narrative.
