भीमसेनस्य बहुमहारथसंयुगः

Bhīmasena’s Engagement with Multiple Mahārathas

क्षत्रधर्ममनुस्मृत्य युध्यस्व विगतज्वर: । “वीर! तात! पूर्वकालमें विराटनगरके भीतर जब सम्पूर्ण राजा एकत्र हुए थे, उनके सामने और संजयके समीप जो तुमने यह कहा था कि मैं युद्धमें, जो मेरा सामना करने आयेंगे, दुर्योधनके उन भीष्म, द्रोण आदि सम्पूर्ण सैनिकोंको सगे-सम्बन्धियोंसहित मार डालूँगा।” शत्रुदमन कुन्तीनन्दन! अपने उस कथनको सत्य कर दिखाओ। तुम क्षत्रियधर्मका स्मरण करके सारी चिन्ताएँ छोड़कर युद्ध करो” || ३४--३६ ह ।। इत्युक्तो वासुदेवेन तिर्यग्दृष्टिरधोमुख:

kṣatradharmam anusmṛtya yudhyasva vigatajvaraḥ | ity ukto vāsudevena tiryagdṛṣṭir adhomukhaḥ ||

“Remembering the duty of a kṣatriya, fight—free from feverish anxiety.” Thus addressed by Vāsudeva, he (Arjuna) kept his gaze turned aside and downward, his face lowered—still weighed by inner conflict even as he is urged toward righteous action in war.
