Vaiśaṃpāyana said: “Let things proceed in due order and as is proper; and once the day’s fighting has ceased, no one should again behave toward anyone with hostile impropriety. At twilight, when the battle is suspended, let mutual goodwill remain among all.”

Even in war, dharma requires restraint: when fighting pauses (especially at twilight), hostility should not spill into personal conduct; mutual goodwill and proper behavior must be maintained.
Vaiśaṃpāyana reports the ethical regulations for conduct during the Kurukṣetra war, emphasizing that after the day’s combat ends, the warriors should not continue enmity through improper actions and should preserve cordial relations during the evening pause.
