Vaiśampāyana said: Viśvāmitra, Asita, King Janaka, Kakṣasena, Ārtiṣeṇa, and the ruler Sindhudvīpa—these and many other kings and ascetics attained the highest spiritual accomplishment through gifts made from righteously acquired wealth and through steadfast truthfulness. The passage underscores that ethical means of earning and the integrity of speech are themselves powerful disciplines leading to perfection.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
That the highest spiritual success is supported not only by austerity but by ethical conduct in ordinary life—especially giving from wealth earned by just means (nyāyopārjita) and unwavering truthfulness (satya-bhāṣaṇa).
Vaiśampāyana lists exemplary sages and kings as precedents, showing that many attained supreme accomplishment through righteous charity and truthful speech, thereby reinforcing a dharma-based standard for both rulers and ascetics.
