Completion of the Aśvamedha

uktaṃ na pratijagrāha mānān mohavaśaṃ gataḥ |

Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Overcome by delusion and driven by pride, Indra did not accept the words that had been spoken by the seers who perceived the truth. Ethically, the passage highlights how arrogance can eclipse discernment, causing even a powerful ruler to reject wise counsel.

Educational Q&A

Pride (māna) can place a person under delusion (moha), making them reject truthful guidance; ethical clarity requires humility and receptivity to wise counsel.

Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Indra, influenced by arrogance and delusion, refuses to accept the statement/counsel spoken by truth-seeing sages.
