Yudhiṣṭhira’s Procession, Encampment (Niveśa), and Auspicious Timing for Ritual Action
arjuna bhīmasenaṃ ca mādrīputrī yamāv api | vaiśampāyana uvāca—rājan! vyāsajī kī bāt sunkar dharmarāja yudhiṣṭhir ne bhīmasena, arjuna, nakula aur sahadeva—ina sabhī bhāiyoṃ ko bulvākar yah samayocita vacana kahā—
Vaiśampāyana said: “O King, having heard Vyāsa’s words, Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira summoned Bhīmasena, Arjuna, and the twin sons of Mādrī as well. Calling all his brothers together, he then spoke words suited to the moment—words meant to guide their conduct in accordance with dharma.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Righteous action begins with attentive listening to wise counsel and then gathering the responsible stakeholders (here, the brothers) to act in unity; Yudhiṣṭhira’s ‘timely words’ signal leadership grounded in dharma rather than impulse.
After hearing Vyāsa’s guidance, Yudhiṣṭhira calls Bhīma, Arjuna, and the twin sons of Mādrī (Nakula and Sahadeva) and prepares to address them with advice appropriate to the situation.
