Yudhiṣṭhira’s Procession, Encampment (Niveśa), and Auspicious Timing for Ritual Action

prasādārtham avāpsyāmo nūnaṁ vāg-buddhi-karmabhiḥ |

Vaiśampāyana said: “Surely we shall obtain it for the sake of winning divine favor—by our speech, our understanding, and our deeds. By reverently worshipping Mahādeva, the God of gods, along with his attendants, and by pleasing them, we will certainly gain that wealth.”

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes that success—especially the gaining of desired wealth or outcomes—should be sought through winning divine grace by aligning speech, discernment, and action in reverent worship, rather than through mere force or cunning.

The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) reports a resolve: they will please Mahādeva (Śiva) and his attendants through devoted propitiation using word, thought, and deed, and thereby surely obtain the sought-after wealth.
