The verse highlights dharma expressed through disciplined generosity: feeding and honoring learned guests (especially Brāhmaṇas) in the prescribed manner, with high-quality provisions, is presented as an ethical and ritual duty that supports social and spiritual order.
In the Aśvamedhika context, a grand rite and its associated gifts/feasts are being described: an immense number of Brāhmaṇas are formally hosted and fed with excellent food, emphasizing the scale and propriety of the patron’s sacrificial hospitality.
