Vyāsa said: “In radiance he was like the Sun; in forbearance he was equal to the Earth. In intelligence he matched Bṛhaspati, and in steadfast firmness he stood like the Himālaya.”
व्यास उवाच
The verse presents a dharmic ideal of leadership and character: brilliance should be balanced by patience, intelligence guided by wise counsel, and all of it grounded in unwavering steadiness. It teaches that true greatness is measured by integrated virtues, not by power alone.
Vyāsa is describing a person’s qualities through classical similes—Sun for radiance, Earth for forbearance, Bṛhaspati for intellect, and Himālaya for firmness—thereby praising the subject as an exemplary figure in the Ashvamedhika Parva context.
