The Allegory of the Inner Forest of Knowledge
तस्माद् हस्वतरं नास्ति न ततो$स्ति महत्तरम् | नास्ति तस्मात् सूक्ष्मतरं नास्त्यन्यत् तत्समं सुखम्,उससे अधिक छोटी, उससे अधिक बड़ी और उससे अधिक सूक्ष्म भी दूसरी कोई वस्तु नहीं है। उसके समान सुखरूप भी कोई नहीं है
tasmād hasvataraṁ nāsti na tato 'sti mahattaram | nāsti tasmāt sūkṣmataraṁ nāsty anyat tat-samaṁ sukham ||
The Brāhmaṇa said: “Therefore, nothing exists that is smaller than That, nor is there anything greater than That. Nothing is subtler than That; and no other happiness exists that is equal to That.”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse asserts the incomparable nature of the ultimate reality (‘That’): it transcends all measures of size and subtlety and is the highest, unmatched bliss—pointing to liberation through realizing the supreme Self.
A Brāhmaṇa speaker delivers a doctrinal statement in a teaching context, emphasizing the supremacy and incomparability of ‘That’ (the highest principle) as part of a broader spiritual instruction within the Ashvamedhika Parva.
