आदि पर्व, अध्याय 96 — काश्यकन्याहरणं, शाल्वसमागमः, अम्बावचनं च

Kāśī princesses taken; encounter with Śālva; Ambā’s declaration

प्राचिन्वान्‌ खल्वश्मकीमुपयेमे यादवीम्‌ । तस्थामस्य जज्ञे संयाति:,प्राचिन्वानने यदुकुलकी कन्या अश्मकीको अपनी पत्नी बनाया। उसके गर्भसे उन्हें संयाति नामक पुत्र प्राप्त हुआ

prācinvān khalv aśmakīm upayeme yādavīm | tasthām asya jajñe saṃyātiḥ |

Vaiśampāyana said: Prācinvān married Aśmakī, a maiden of the Yādava lineage. From her he begot a son named Saṃyāti. The passage continues the genealogical account, presenting marriage and progeny as the lawful means by which dynastic continuity is maintained.
