Chapter 74: Non-anger, Forbearance, and the Ethics of Residence
अड्भादज़ात् सम्भवसि हृदयादधिजायसे । आत्मा वै पुत्रनामासि स जीव शरद: शतम्,“(उस मन्त्रसमुदायका भाव इस प्रकार है--) हे बालक! तुम मेरे अंग-अंगसे प्रकट हुए हो; हृदयसे उत्पन्न हुए हो। तुम पुत्र नामसे प्रसिद्ध मेरे आत्मा ही हो, अतः वत्स! तुम सौ वर्षोतक जीवित रहो
aṅgebhyaḥ sambhavasi hṛdayād adhijāyase | ātmā vai putranāmāsi sa jīva śaradaḥ śatam ||
Duṣyanta said: “Child, you have arisen from my very limbs and are born from my heart. You are truly my own self, known by the name ‘son’; therefore, dear one, live for a hundred autumns.” In this blessing, the king affirms the son as an extension of the father’s very being, grounding paternal duty and affection in the dharmic ideal of lineage, care, and rightful recognition.
