Chapter 74: Non-anger, Forbearance, and the Ethics of Residence
त्रिषु वर्षेषु पूर्णेषु प्रजाताहमरिंदम । इमं कुमार राजेन्द्र तव शोकविनाशनम्,'शत्रुओंका दमन करनेवाले सम्राट! मैंने पूरे तीन वर्षोतक अपने गर्भमें धारण करनेके पश्चात् आपके इस पुत्रको जन्म दिया है। यह आपके शोकका विनाश करनेवाला होगा। पौरव! पहले जब मैं सौरमें थी, उस समय आकाशवाणीने मुझसे कहा था कि यह बालक सौ अश्वमेध यज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान करनेवाला होगा
triṣu varṣeṣu pūrṇeṣu prajāto ’ham ariṃdama | imaṃ kumāra rājendra tava śokavināśanam ||
O subduer of foes, when three full years had passed, I gave birth to this boy. O best of kings, this prince will dispel your sorrow.
दुष्यन्त उवाच
The verse frames the birth of an heir as a dharmic restoration of hope and stability: a rightful successor is portrayed as one who removes grief and supports the continuity of righteous kingship.
Duṣyanta speaks about the birth of a prince after three years, presenting the child to the king as one destined to end sorrow—signaling the arrival of an heir and the renewal of the royal line.
