Chapter 74: Non-anger, Forbearance, and the Ethics of Residence

नास्ति सत्यसमो धर्मो न सत्याद्‌ विद्यते परम्‌ न हि तीव्रतरं किंचिदनृतादिह विद्यते,सत्यके समान कोई धर्म नहीं है। सत्यसे उत्तम कुछ भी नहीं है और झूठसे बढ़कर तीव्रतर पाप इस जगत्‌में दूसरा कोई नहीं है

nāsti satyasamo dharmo na satyād vidyate param | na hi tīvrataraṃ kiṃcid anṛtād iha vidyate ||

Duṣyanta said: “No duty is equal to truth. Nothing is higher than truth. And in this world there is nothing more grievous and piercing a sin than falsehood.”
