इस प्रकार श्रीमह्माभारत आदिपर्वके अन्तर्गत पर्वसंग्रहपर्वमें दूसरा अध्याय पूरा हुआ,स जनमेजयस्य भ्रातृभिरभिहतो रोरूयमाणो मातु: समीपमुपागच्छत् जनमेजयके भाइयोंने उस कुत्तेकों मारा। तब वह रोता हुआ अपनी माँके पास गया
sa janamejayasya bhrātṛbhir abhihato rorūyamāṇo mātuḥ samīpam upāgacchat |
Struck by Janamejaya’s brothers, the dog—whimpering and crying—went to its mother for refuge. The episode underscores how cruelty toward the helpless drives them to seek protection, and it foreshadows the ethical consequences that follow from harming an innocent being.
राम उवाच
Harming a helpless creature is adharma and invites moral consequence; compassion and restraint are implied duties, especially for the powerful.
Janamejaya’s brothers strike a dog; the dog, crying, runs to its mother, setting up the next development in the story where this act becomes significant.
