Garuḍa’s Breach of the Amṛta-Guard and Boons with Viṣṇu; Encounter with Indra (Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 29)

tam uvāca khagaśreṣṭha tatra rohiṇapādapaḥ | atipravṛddhaḥ sumahān āpatantaṃ manojavam ||

Then, in that place, a mighty tree named Rohiṇa addressed Garuḍa, the foremost of birds, as he came swooping in with mind-like speed. The scene frames a moral pause in the midst of force and momentum: even the swift and powerful are called to heed counsel and restraint when their actions may bring harm to others.

Educational Q&A

Great power and speed should be guided by discernment; even the strongest must pause to listen to timely counsel, especially when their movement may endanger others.

As Garuḍa approaches at tremendous speed, a huge tree named Rohiṇa speaks to him, initiating a brief exchange that interrupts sheer momentum with warning or advice.
