Adhyāya 203 — Tilottamā-sṛṣṭiḥ
Creation and Commissioning of Tilottamā

iti prakāre śrīmahābhārata ādiparvake antargata vidurāgamana-rājyalambha-parvaṇi bhīṣma-vākya-viṣayaka dvi-śata-dvitīyo 'dhyāyaḥ pūrṇaḥ
Thus ends the two-hundred-and-second chapter, concerning Bhīṣma’s discourse, within the Vidura’s Arrival and the Attainment of Kingship section of the Ādi Parva of the Śrī Mahābhārata. The colophon signals a transition: Bhīṣma’s words are treated as authoritative guidance, framing the narrative in terms of rightful conduct and legitimate rule.
भीष्म उवाच
As a colophon, the verse does not add new instruction; it frames Bhīṣma’s discourse as a completed unit within the epic’s ethical narrative, emphasizing that guidance on dharma and rightful kingship is transmitted through authoritative elders.
The text marks the conclusion of the 202nd chapter (as counted in this internal note), situated in the section dealing with Vidura’s arrival and the attainment of royal power, and identifies the chapter’s subject as Bhīṣma’s words.
