Adhyāya 203 — Tilottamā-sṛṣṭiḥ
Creation and Commissioning of Tilottamā
etad tava mahārāja putreṣu teṣu caiva hi | vṛttam aupayikaṃ manye bhīṣmeṇa saha bhārata ||
Bhīṣma said: “O great king, regarding those sons of yours and also the Pāṇḍavas, I consider the course of conduct just described to be the most fitting and practical. O Bhārata, I too—together with Bhīṣma—judge this to be the proper way.”
भीष्म उवाच
A ruler should adopt the most appropriate and workable course of conduct toward both branches of the family—his own sons and the Pāṇḍavas—guided by dharma and practical wisdom, and in alignment with trusted elders like Bhīṣma.
Bhīṣma is giving (or endorsing) counsel to the king, affirming that the previously stated policy toward the Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas is the proper and expedient one, and that he stands in agreement with Bhīṣma’s judgment.
