Ādi-parva, Adhyāya 187: Drupada’s Inquiry and the Dharma Debate on Draupadī’s Marriage
āropayatu śīghra vai tathety ūcur dvijarṣabhāḥ | “maharṣi agastyena ātmanaḥ brahmatejaḥ-prabhāvena agādhaḥ samudraḥ pītaḥ | tasmād yūyaṁ sarve ’tra āśīrvādaṁ dadhta yathāyaṁ mahān brahmacārī śīghram eva dhanuḥ samāropayati (lakṣya-vedhe ca saphalo bhavati)” | iti śrutvā te śreṣṭhā brāhmaṇās tathaivāśīrvāda-varṣaṁ pracakruḥ ||
The foremost of Brahmins said, “Let him string it quickly—so be it.” They recalled how the great sage Agastya, by the sheer force of his spiritual radiance, once drank up the unfathomable ocean. “Therefore,” they urged, “all of you here, bestow your blessings, so that this eminent celibate may swiftly string this bow and succeed in striking the mark.” Hearing this, those excellent Brahmins began to shower blessings just as requested.
