The king said: “O greatly fortunate one, I will never at any time dishonor the Brahmins. Abiding faithfully by your instruction, I shall duly honor and worship the twice-born.”
वसिष्ठ उवाच
A ruler’s dharma includes unwavering respect toward Brahmins and the disciplined practice of honoring the ‘twice-born,’ especially when guided by a venerable teacher; ethical kingship is shown through restraint from insult and active reverence.
In response to Vasiṣṭha’s counsel, the king makes a vow: he will not disparage Brahmins and will, under Vasiṣṭha’s direction, properly honor and worship the dvijas—signaling submission to guidance and commitment to righteous conduct.
