Aurva’s Containment of the Wrath-Fire
एवं संतर्कयामास रूपद्रविणसम्पदा । कन्यामसदृशीं लोके नृप: संवरणस्तदा,इस प्रकार उस समय उसकी रूप-सम्पत्तिसे राजा संवरणने यही अनुमान किया कि संसारमें इस दिव्य कनन््याकी समता करनेवाली दूसरी कोई स्त्री नहीं है
evaṁ santarkayāmāsa rūpa-draviṇa-sampadā | kanyām asadṛśīṁ loke nṛpaḥ saṁvaraṇas tadā ||
Thus, King Saṁvaraṇa reflected upon her—considering her beauty and the richness of her qualities—and concluded that in all the world there was no other maiden comparable to this divine girl. The verse underscores how extraordinary excellence can arrest the mind, and it hints at the ethical need to temper admiration with discernment before desire turns into attachment.
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse highlights the mind’s tendency to form strong conclusions from perceived excellence (beauty and endowment). Ethically, it suggests the importance of balancing admiration with clear judgment so that appreciation does not become unexamined attachment.
A Gandharva narrates that King Saṁvaraṇa, seeing the maiden’s extraordinary beauty and qualities, reflects and decides that no other woman in the world equals her.
