Taking his grandsons with him, along with various kinds of wealth, Bhīṣma—upon reaching the wise Droṇa—formally entrusted all those youths to him as pupils. The act frames education as a sacred responsibility: the guardian does not merely seek skill for the princes, but places them under a worthy teacher with due honor and support, so that learning may proceed within discipline and dharma.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Guardianship includes the duty to place students under a competent and ethical teacher, honoring the guru with proper support. Learning is treated as a dharmic institution—skill must be grounded in discipline and right conduct.
Bhīṣma goes to Droṇa carrying gifts/wealth and brings the Kuru youths with him. After arriving, he hands them over to Droṇa, appointing him as their instructor and formally establishing the teacher–student relationship.
