पीत्वा तवासूग् गात्रेभ्यस्तत: पश्चादिमानपि । हनिष्यामि ततः पश्चादिमां विप्रियकारिणीम्
pītvā tavāsūn gātrebhyas tataḥ paścād imān api | haniṣyāmi tataḥ paścād imāṁ vipriyakāriṇīm ||
Hiḍimba said: “After drinking the life-breath from your limbs, I shall then kill these others as well; and after that, I shall kill this woman who has caused me displeasure.”
हिडिग्ब उवाच
The verse highlights the rākṣasa ethos of predatory violence and intimidation, setting up an ethical contrast where protecting companions and an endangered woman becomes a dharmic necessity against adharma.
Hiḍimba threatens to drain the life from the addressed hero and then kill the rest, finally targeting the woman who has angered him—intensifying the immediate peril that prompts confrontation and protection.
