Vaiśampāyana said: “Let the proper family rites be arranged—auspicious and grand. And let the friends and close kin of all who died there also go, so that those dead may receive the due funerary rites.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes dharma expressed as responsibility toward the dead: arranging proper, auspicious, and dignified rites, and ensuring that the deceased are honored by the participation of their friends and kin. It frames ritual duty as an ethical obligation of the community and family.
A directive is being given to organize grand and auspicious family ceremonies and to have the well-wishers and relatives of those who died at that place go there, so that the deceased may receive the appropriate last rites.
