tatra cotpatsyate jantur bhavatāṃ tāraṇāya vai | śāśvataṃ sthānam āsādya modantāṃ pitaro mama ||
From that union a being will indeed be born for your deliverance. Therefore, may my Pitṛs attain their eternal abode and dwell there in contentment—released from anxiety, assured that the line will continue and the ancestral debt will be repaid.
The verse highlights pitṛ-dharma: ensuring progeny and proper continuity of lineage is seen as a means of relieving and honoring one’s ancestors, enabling them to rest in their eternal abode.
Śaunaka addresses his ancestors (Pitṛs), assuring them that from the arranged union an offspring will be born who will bring their deliverance; he then bids them to go to their everlasting realm and remain joyful.
