Sukta 9
अष्टेन्द्रस्य षड् यमस्य ऋषीणां सप्त सप्तधा। अपो मनुष्या३नोषधीस्ताँ उ पञ्चानु सेचिरे
aṣṭéndrasya ṣáḍ yámasya ṛ́ṣīṇāṃ saptá saptadhā́ | apó manuṣyā́ ánoṣadhīs tā́n u páñcā́nu secire ||
Eight are Indra’s portions, six belong to Yama; of the Seers there are seven, in sevenfold wise. The Waters—men—and the Plants: these, verily, in five divisions they poured forth in due succession.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (hymn-level attribution varies; often treated as cosmogonic/Brāhmaṇa-like material)
Devata: Apas and Oṣadhis (with Indra, Yama, and Ṛṣis as cosmological recipients)
Chandas: Mixed/Brāhmaṇa-prose cadence within a mantra frame (not a strict RV-style metrical verse)
