Mantra 1
Indra, bring hither for us the chiefest, the most puissant, the abundant glory—wherewith, O wondrous Bolt-in-hand, O fair-lipped, thou didst fill forth both Heaven and Earth.
Mantra 2
Thee, the fierce, for aid we call—subduer of the peoples, O King, among the gods. Shattering and crushing, O bounteous one, make all our enemies for us easy to overcome.
It asks for the highest ojas (power, vigor) and abundant śravas (effective fame), and then for Indra’s help in crushing obstacles and making enemies easy to overcome.
Both: it is primarily paustika (prosperity/prestige) because it seeks ojas and fame, but it also has a clear victory-subduing (abhicārika) edge in the second mantra.
No. A simple clean setting and focused recitation are sufficient; optionally you can use water for cleansing and a small ‘vajra’ token (stone/metal/staff) as a symbolic support for the intention.
