ईश्वर उवाच । ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि यत्र जांबवती नदी । पुरा जांबवतीनाम विष्णोर्या महिषीप्रिया । अपृच्छदर्जुनं साध्वी वद वार्तां कुरू द्वह
īśvara uvāca | tato gacchenmahādevi yatra jāṃbavatī nadī | purā jāṃbavatīnāma viṣṇoryā mahiṣīpriyā | apṛcchadarjunaṃ sādhvī vada vārtāṃ kurū dvaha
Īśvara bersabda: “Kemudian, wahai Mahādevī, hendaklah pergi ke tempat mengalirnya sungai Jāmbavatī. Dahulu kala, wanita suci bernama Jāmbavatī—permaisuri terkasih Viṣṇu—bertanya kepada Arjuna: ‘Katakan kabar itu; ucapkan dengan benar, tanpa menyembunyikan apa pun.’”
