Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) speaking to the sages (deduced)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Pilgrimage audience
Scene: A sun descending toward late day; a priest warns a householder that the time has passed, labeling the late śrāddha as ‘āsura’; the pitṛs are depicted faintly withdrawing, indicating non-reception.
Śrāddha requires correct timing; when done at an inauspicious phase, its fruit fails to reach the ancestors.
Prabhāsa-kṣetra, within whose māhātmya the proper performance of ancestral rites is taught.
Avoid performing Śrāddha late, when the sun is weakened/declining (specified as the eighth part of the day).
