“Wahai outcaste, wahai yang berhati luhur—selamatkanlah kami dengan dana makanan. Kami telah kurus, tersiksa oleh lapar, dan nyawa kami pun berada dalam keraguan.”
Ṛṣis (sages) (as quoted within Śiva’s narration)
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahādevī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Close-up of sages with folded hands, gaunt bodies, pleading to the householder; the emotional center is their vulnerability and the moral appeal to the ‘great-minded’ one.
Anna-dāna is portrayed as immediate protection of life; compassion is dharma in action.
The episode supports the Māhātmya leading to Akṣamāleśvara/Ugraseneśvara in Prabhāsa-kṣetra.
Giving food (anna-dāna) as a saving, meritorious act.
